Second Stage Round 6: Sanjoanense - Academia 78-54

Bottom-ranked Academia is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to fourteenth ranked Sanjoanense (3-3) 78-54. Sanjoanense dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Academia's 24. They outrebounded Academia 39-27 including 25 on the defensive glass. Forward Pedro Azevedo (193-81) scored 36 points (!!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Swedish-American forward Elias Desport (203-92, college: St.Peter's) chipped in 15 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Ba Cassama (195-85) with 20 points and 7 rebounds and Cape Verdean forward Denis Neves (197-78) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sanjoanense have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place in Places 9-16, which they share with 3 other teams. Academia at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Sanjoanense will play against Fisica (#11) in Torres Vedras in the next round. Academia will play at home against Angrabasket (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
