Regular Season Round 19: Krofdorf/Gleib. - Osnabruecker TB 63-71

An interesting game took place in Giessen where higher ranked Krofdorf/Gleib. (10-9) was upset on its own court by tenth ranked Osnabruecker (7-12) 71-63 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 43-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Osnabruecker made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Krofdorf/Gleib. turnovers. It was a great evening for forward Janina Wellers (180-88) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Elizabeth Belanger (178-94, college: New Hampshire) helped adding 22 points and 6 rebounds. Osnabruecker's coach Roland Senger used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American guard Erin Bratcher (175-92, college: Charleston So.) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Alise Karlsone (183-91, college: Charleston So.) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Osnabruecker moved-up to ninth place in North, which they share with B.Loewen. Krofdorf/Gleib. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. Osnabruecker will face higher ranked Baskets Grunberg (#8) in Gruenberg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Krofdorf/Gleib. will play on the road against SG BBZ Opladen in Leverkusen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
