The game in Heidelberg supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Crailsheim Merlins (20-5) played at the court of 5th ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (16-9). Crailsheim Merlins smashed MLP Academics Heidelberg 101-62 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of MLP Academics Heidelberg. Crailsheim Merlins shot 61.0 percent from the field. They also forced 20 MLP Academics Heidelberg turnovers and outrebounded them 30-19 including 22 on the defensive glass. Crailsheim Merlins shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by MLP Academics Heidelberg's players. American guard Chase Griffin (190-83, college: Pepperdine) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and the former international forward Konrad Wysocki (202-82, college: Princeton) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. Four Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Niklas Wuerzner (196-94) responded with 12 points and 5 assists and center Phillipp Heyden (206-88) scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Crailsheim Merlins have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 20-5 record having just two points less than leader MBC. MLP Academics Heidelberg at the other side keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. Crailsheim Merlins will meet ETB Wohnbau (#15) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play against Hamburg (#11) and hope to secure a win.
