Regular Season Round 23: Kibirkstis - Aistes-LSU 55-38

Rather expected game in Vilnius where 5th ranked Aistes-LSU (8-14) was defeated by second ranked Kibirkstis (17-5) 55-38 on Friday. Kibirkstis dominated on the defensive end, holding Aistes-LSU to just 4 points in third and fourth quarters and to 14 points in second half. Kibirkstis held Aistes-LSU to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.8 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Aistes-LSU 51-25 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for international center Daugile Sarauskaite (196-96) who led her team to a victory scoring 8 points and 13 rebounds. International center Laura Juskaite (187-97) helped adding 6 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Dovile Saurazaite (174-92) responded with 7 points and 4 assists and Gintare Paulauskaite (185-95) scored 10 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kibirkstis maintains second place with 17-5 record having just three points less than leader Suduva. Aistes-LSU at the other side keeps the fifth position with 14 games lost. Kibirkstis are looking forward to face Fortuna (#4) in Klaipeda in the next round. Aistes-LSU's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas.
