Regular Season Round 23: Ukmerges - Suduva 41-71

LMKL top team - Suduva (20-2) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Ukmerges (2-21) 71-41. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-41. Suduva dominated on the defensive end, holding Ukmerges to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They held Ukmerges to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Suduva forced 21 Ukmerges turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Suduva made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for forward Ieva Simkute (192-89) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Point guard Greta Tamasauskaite (177-91) helped adding 10 points and 7 rebounds. Four Suduva players scored in double figures. Forward Martyna Petrenaite (181-98) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds and Monika Petrauskaite (182-92) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Suduva have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 20-2 record. Ukmerges lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 21 lost games. Suduva are looking forward to face Siauliai-Univ. (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Ukmerges will have a break next round.
