Regular Season Round 23: Vechta II - Weser Bsk/BTS 110-71

Very expected game when 10th ranked Weser Bsk/BTS (4-13) was smashed on the road by fifth ranked Vechta-2 (10-6) 110-71 on Saturday. Vechta-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Weser Bsk/BTS's 32. Vechta-2 forced 19 Weser Bsk/BTS turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Kazembe Abif (201-92, college: Drexel) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 5 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Philipp Herkenhoff (207-99) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Abif is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Vechta-2 players scored in double figures. American center Edward Seward (206-78, college: Norfolk St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds and forward Jonas Liermann (197-87) added 19 points in the effort for Weser Bsk/BTS. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vechta-2 maintains fifth place in North with 10-6 record. Weser Bsk/BTS lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Vechta-2 will face league's leader RW Cuxhaven on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Weser Bsk/BTS will play against Hannover Korb. (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
