Regular Season Round 26: Klosterneuburg - Gmunden 53-70
Date: March 5, 2017
There was no surprise in Klosterneuburg where 9th ranked Dukes (4-20) were defeated by second ranked Gmunden Swans (17-7) 70-53. The game was mostly controlled by Gmunden Swans. Dukes was better in fourth quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gmunden Swans forced 22 Dukes turnovers. International forward Enis Murati (194-88, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and American forward Austin Steed (203-88, college: E.Carolina) supported him with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds by international center Jozo Rados (208-93) did not help to save the game for Dukes. Forward Jurica Blazevic (199-94, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points for the hosts. Dukes' coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Gmunden Swans maintains second position with 17-7 record having just three points less than leader Oberwart. Dukes lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 20 lost games. Gmunden Swans' next round opponent will be UBSC Graz (#8) at home where they are favorite. Dukes will play against Kapfenberg Bulls and hope to win that game.
