The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Iasi's (1-19) road loss to ninth ranked Sirius TgM (3-17) 57-62 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-15. But Iasi won second period 14-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sirius TgM forced 21 Iasi turnovers. The best player for the winners was American center Teonia McCune (196-93, college: Georgetown, KY) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Her fellow American import guard Angel Robinson (170-89, college: Marquette, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. American-Puerto Rican center Angelica Bermudez (185-89, college: Kean, agency: Gamble Sports Management) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 20 rebounds and American guard Ka-Deidre Simmons (173, college: Seton Hall) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Four Iasi players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Sirius TgM maintains ninth place with 3-17 record. Iasi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay dead last with 19 lost games. Sirius TgM will face higher ranked ICIM Arad (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Iasi will play against Alexandria and hope to win that game.
