Regular Season Round 24: Brose Bask. - Giessen 46ers 82-68

There was no surprise in Bamberg where 9th ranked Giessen 46ers (10-13) were defeated by second ranked Brose Baskets (22-1) 82-68 on Monday. Brose Baskets shot 60.4 percent from the field. They also forced 19 Giessen 46ers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was international guard Maodo Lo (191-92, college: Columbia) who scored 16 points. The former international guard Patrick Heckmann (197-92, college: Boston Coll.) chipped in 11 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Justin Sears (203-94, college: Yale) who recorded 20 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Dwayne Evans (201-92, college: St.Louis) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five Giessen 46ers players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brose Baskets have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 22-1 record behind leader Ratiopharm. Giessen 46ers lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 13 games lost. Brose Baskets will face EWE Baskets (#7) in Oldenburg in the next round where they are favorite. Giessen 46ers will play at home against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven and hope to win that game.
