Regular Season Round 24: H-Sirenos - Aistes-LSU 78-67

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kaunas: Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (#3) and Aistes-LSU (#5). Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (14-9) won against visiting Aistes-LSU (8-15) 78-67. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-67. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas forced 29 Aistes-LSU turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was international point guard Gabriele Gutkauskaite (175-90) who scored 17 points and 4 steals. Kornelija Balciunaite (176-81) chipped in 3 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Dovile Saurazaite (174-92) who recorded 27 points and Karolina Kazociunaite (180-99) added 6 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 14-9 record having seven points less than leader Suduva. Aistes-LSU lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 15 games lost. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas are looking forward to face league's leader Suduva in Marijampole in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aistes-LSU will play at home against Fortuna (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
