There was a minor upset in Izmir where 10th ranked Ferko Ilgaz (15-15) was defeated by twelfth ranked Urla BLD (15-15) 77-68 on Saturday. Urla BLD looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Ukrainian center Olena Staschuk (192-85) had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and center Berrin Karabas (190-87) chipped in 16 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Merissa Quick (190-93, college: Emporia St.) with 25 points and 5 rebounds and guard Melek Yusufoglu (168-94) scored 11 points and 5 assists. Ferko Ilgaz's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Urla BLD moved-up to tenth place, which they share with TED Ankara and Ferko Ilgaz. Urla BLD will meet TED Ankara (#11) on the road in the next round. Ferko Ilgaz will play against 55 Genclik and hope to secure a win.
