Regular Season Round 21: Bad Aibling - Halle 72-70

Eighth-ranked SV Halle Lions (7-13) gave a tough game to sixth ranked Fireballs (11-10) in Bad Aibling on Saturday. Fireballs managed to secure only two-point victory 72-70. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-70. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fireballs made 7 blocks. International point guard Lena-Marie Bradaric (166-93) stepped up and scored 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American guard Lindsay Sherbert (184, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds. Five Fireballs players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) with 27 points and 7 assists and Inken-Viktoria Henningsen (180-93) scored 15 points. SV Halle Lions' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fireballs moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Herner. SV Halle Lions at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. Fireballs is looking forward to face TH Wohnbau Angels (#10) in Noerdlingen in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. SV Halle Lions will play at home against BC Pharmaserv Marburg and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
