Regular Season Round 21: Osnabruecker TB - Goettingen 50-68

Date: March 11, 2017
Very predictable result when second ranked Goettingen (18-3) won against on the road 10th ranked Osnabruecker (7-14) 68-50 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 68-50. Goettingen forced 19 Osnabruecker turnovers. It was a good game for Trinidad and Tobago center Verdine Warner (196-92, college: Shaw) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Lithuanian point guard Inesa Visgaudaite (169-91) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Goettingen players scored in double figures. American guard Elizabeth Belanger (178-94, college: New Hampshire) answered with 9 points and 9 rebounds and forward Janina Wellers (180-88) added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Osnabruecker. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Goettingen. They keep a position of North leader, which they share with Wolfenbuettel. Newly promoted Osnabruecker keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. Goettingen will face league's leader Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Osnabruecker will play against SG BBZ Opladen (#7) in Leverkusen and hope to win that game.
