Regular Season Round 21: Keltern II - Rhein MB 83-79

There was an upset when higher ranked Rhein Main Baskets (11-8) lost on the road to ninth ranked Keltern II (6-13) 83-79 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Rhein Main Baskets won fourth quarter 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American power forward Kristi Mokube (188-93, college: George Mason) who led her team to a victory with 20 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Guard Linn Schuler contributed with 16 points for the winners. Point guard Pia Dietrich (168-94) answered with 27 points and 8 rebounds and Lyndi Laborn added 18 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Rhein Main Baskets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Keltern II maintains ninth place in South with 6-13 record. Loser Rhein Main Baskets dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Keltern II will face higher ranked Weiterstadt (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rhein Main Baskets will play against Don Bosco Bamberg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
