Regular Season Round 24: Hertener Loewen - Schwelm 70-95

Date: March 11, 2017
Very expected game when 11th ranked Hertener Loewen (10-13) was crushed at home by first ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (19-4) 95-70 on Saturday. SG Schwelmer Baskets outrebounded Hertener Loewen 44-33 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian swingman Andrius Mikutis (194-88, college: John Brown) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and guard Mathias Perl (188-89) who added 21 points and 4 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. SG Schwelmer Baskets' coach Falk Moeller felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was British guard Kofi Josephs (198-91, college: Fort Lewis) with 24 points and 5 rebounds and American KJ Sherrill (203-91, college: Augusta) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. SG Schwelmer Baskets have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position in West with 19-4 record. Loser Hertener Loewen keeps the eleventh place with 13 games lost. SG Schwelmer Baskets will face Hagen-Haspe (#13) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Hertener Loewen will play against Herford and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
