There was no surprise when 6th ranked Esgueira / Oli (2-6) was crushed at home by third ranked Terceira (6-1) 65-43 on Saturday. Terceira held Esgueira / Oli to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.4 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Esgueira / Oli 55-32 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Esgueira / Oli was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Mohamed Camara (196-83) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Naturalized Sao Tome and Principe center Ekjersey Viana (203-77) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Guilherme Oliveira (193-97) produced 5 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Joao Neves (185-96) added 4 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Terceira have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Places 1-8. Loser Esgueira / Oli keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Terceira will face Estoril Basket (#4) at home in the next round. Esgueira / Oli will play against Dragon Force in Porto and hope to win that game.
