There was a minor upset when 9th ranked TuSLi Berlin (8-13) was edged by eleventh ranked Braunschweig (4-17) in Lichterfelde 61-59 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 20-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Braunschweig forced 19 TuSLi Berlin turnovers. Strangely TuSLi Berlin outrebounded Braunschweig 49-36 including 19 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for American guard Felicia Barron (170-90, college: Quinnipiac) who led her team to a victory with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Her fellow American import forward Alayshia Hunter (185-93, college: La-Monroe) contributed with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Center Nyara Sabally (185-0) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and Meret Kleine-Beek (-1) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for TuSLi Berlin. TuSLi Berlin's coach Alexandra Maerz tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Braunschweig maintains eleventh place in North with 4-17 record. Loser TuSLi Berlin dropped to the eighth position with 13 games lost. Braunschweig will face higher ranked B.Loewen (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
