No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Krofdorf/Gleib. (11-10) beat 12th ranked Barmer TV (2-19) in Giessen 67-57 on Sunday. Barmer TV was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Krofdorf/Gleib. dominated on the defensive end, holding Barmer TV to just 7 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Barmer TV 51-30 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Chelsea Small (185, college: Indiana St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 22 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Alise Karlsone (183-91, college: Charleston So.) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Krofdorf/Gleib.'s coach Uwe Scheidemann used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Leonie Bleker (189-90) answered with 9 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and guard Wiebke Bruns (178-90, college: Houston Baptist) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Barmer TV. Krofdorf/Gleib. moved-up to fifth place in North. Barmer TV lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 19 games lost. Krofdorf/Gleib. will face higher ranked Osnabruck SC (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Barmer TV will play against Baskets Grunberg (#6) and hope to win that game.
