Second Stage Round 3: Vitoria SC - Benfica 80-85

The biggest surprise of round 3 in LPB was guest Benfica's (19-6) road victory over Vitoria SC (#4) 85-80 on Sunday evening. Benfica dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Vitoria SC's 34. The best player for the winners was American-Hungarian forward Damian Hollis (203-88, college: G.Washington, agency: Inception Sports) who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Nuno Oliveira (186-89) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Benfica's coach Carlos Lisboa used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Andrew Ferry (190-90, college: Cornell) who recorded 17 points and 5 assists and Serbian-Hungarian power forward Nebojsa Dukic (206-88, agency: 011 Sports) added 20 points respectively. Four Benfica and five Vitoria SC players scored in double figures. Benfica is looking forward to face Oliveirense in Oliveira in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vitoria SC will play at home against FC Porto Ferpinta and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
