Regular Season Round 21: Chemnitz - Saarlouis 72-71

A very interesting game took place in Chemnitz. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th placed TV Saarlouis Royals (12-9) to ninth ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (8-13) 72-71 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But TV Saarlouis Royals won fourth quarter 17-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American forward Merritt Hempe (190-94, college: Georgia) who saved her team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds. French guard Margot Vidal-Geneve (165-95) contributed with 21 points and 6 assists for the winners. American forward Portia Durrett (185-92, college: Oklahoma) answered with 26 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Angela Tisdale (170-85, college: Baylor) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for TV Saarlouis Royals. ChemCats Chemnitz moved-up to eighth place. TV Saarlouis Royals lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with nine games lost. ChemCats Chemnitz's next round opponent will be league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. TV Saarlouis Royals will play against Hannover and hope to win that game.
