Regular Season Round 21: Wuerzburg - Jahn Muenchen 59-54

Date: March 12, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Friendsfactory Germering (8-11) lost on the road to third ranked Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (13-6) 59-54 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Friendsfactory Germering won fourth quarter 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg forced 20 Friendsfactory Germering turnovers and outrebounded them 45-24 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for Canadian guard Stephanie Kleysen (178, college: Winnipeg) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Center Anne Zipser (190-98) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg's coach Janet Fowler-Michel used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international forward Magdalena von-Geyr (180-84) answered with 23 points and 7 rebounds and the former international Anne Delafosse (184-84) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Friendsfactory Germering. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg moved-up to second place in South, which they share with Bamberg. Loser Friendsfactory Germering keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg will face Wasserburg II (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Friendsfactory Germering will play against Speyer / Schifferstadt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
