Regular Season Round 16: Interkhim - Avangard 64-74

An interesting game for Avangard (17-2) which played road game in Odessa against one of their biggest challengers Interkhim (13-6). Second ranked Avangard managed to get a 10-point victory 74-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Interkhim. The game was mostly controlled by Avangard. Interkhim managed to win second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Avangard won last quarter 22-14. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Olga Yatskovets (183-97) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Swingman Viktoriya Kondus (175-97) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Avangard's coach Volodimir Kholopov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Natalia Kolotovska (173-90) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds and 14 assists and center Kristina Karp (196-98) added 15 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Interkhim. Four Interkhim players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Avangard maintains second position with 17-2 record having just one point less than leader Tim-Scuf. Defending champion Interkhim keeps the third place with six games lost. Avangard will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Interkhim will play on the road against Suzirja in Rivne and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
