Regular Season Round 17: Interkhim - Tim-Scuf 79-75 OT

There was a change at the Superleague leadership position after last games. Round 17 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Tim-Scuf (17-2). They were defeated by third ranked Interkhim (15-6) 79-75 in overtime on Friday night. It ended at the same time the 15-game winning streak of Tim-Scuf. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-13. But Tim-Scuf won second period 14-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Tim-Scuf used huge pressure winning it 19-15 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 10-14. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Interkhim made 8 blocks. 25 personal fouls committed by Tim-Scuf helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Swingman Yulia Musienko (177-97) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks for the winners and point guard Olha Sivakova (160-92) chipped in 25 points and 5 rebounds. The former international forward Olena Gulyamova (185-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Olga Krasnikova (182-84) scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Tim-Scuf players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains third place with 15-6 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Avangard. Newly promoted Tim-Scuf still keeps top position with two games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Avangard who have the same record. Tim-Scuf will play next round against Blyskavky trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Interkhim will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked DVUFK in Dnepropetrovsk.
