Second Stage Round 9: Guifoes - Academia 73-66

Bottom-ranked Academia is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to fifteenth ranked Guifoes (3-6) 73-66. Point guard Rodrigo Lima (183-98) stepped up and scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and power forward Paulo Ruge (198-96) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Guifoes' coach Nuno Filipe Gomes Freitas used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Angolan forward Benedito Suca (196-84) with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and forward Ba Cassama (195-85) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Guifoes maintains fifteenth place in Places 9-16 with 3-6 record. Academia at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Guifoes will play against higher ranked Fisica (#10) in Torres Vedras in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Academia will play at home against Ginasio (#12) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
