An interesting game was played in Samokov where Yambol (#8) won against host Rilski (#4) 90-76 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Rilski. The former international center Nikolay Varbanov (209-85, agency: Interperformances) had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Tsvetoslav Ostrev (175-86) chipped in 25 points during the contest. At the losing side American forward DJ Shelton (208-91, college: Washington St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Evan Bruinsma (202-92, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Inception Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Rilski's coach Ludmil Hadjisotirov tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Yambol (5-14) moved-up to seventh place. Loser Rilski keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Yambol will meet at home league's leader Lukoil Acad. in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Rilski will play against Spartak Pleven and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
