Second Stage Round 5: Hoverla - Azovmash 93-53

The game between third ranked Hoverla (11-5) and 6th ranked Azovmash (7-9) in Frankivsk ended with biggest points difference. Hoverla outscored guests from Mariupol 93-53. The game without a history. Hoverla led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Azovmash's 16. Hoverla forced 23 Azovmash turnovers and outrebounded them 53-23 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 20 passes made by Azovmash's players. The best player for the winners was the former international center Roman Gumeniuk (220-87) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Oleksandr Shostuha (192-84) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. Four Hoverla players scored in double figures. Forward Oleksiy Momotenko (203-92) produced 13 points and guard Yevgen Bumbur (193-93) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Azovmash's coach Sergei Zavalin gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Hoverla. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Zolotoi Vek. Azovmash at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Hoverla's next round opponent will be league's leader Krivbas-2 in Kryvyi Rih and it will be for sure the game of the week. Azovmash will play at home against BC-93 Pulsar (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
