Regular Season Round 27: Juventus - Zalgiris 71-73

Fifth-ranked Juventus (15-12) made lots of trouble for first ranked Zalgiris (24-3) in Utena on Sunday. The visitors from Kaunas managed to secure only two-point victory 73-71. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 23-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was international point guard Lukas Lekavicius (180-94) who scored 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). French guard Leo Westermann (197-92, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 10 points and 4 assists. Zalgiris' coach Sarunas Jasikevicius used entire bench in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Jamar Diggs (188-88, college: Wofford, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded 18 points and 5 rebounds and forward Gytis Sirutavicius (195-83) added 18 points respectively. Defending champion maintains first place with 24-3 record. Juventus at the other side keeps the fifth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Vytautas. Zalgiris are looking forward to face Dzukija (#8) in Alytus in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Juventus will play at home against Neptunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
