Regular Season Round 22: Besiktas - Galatasaray 90-84

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Besiktas (#3) and Galatasaray (#6). Besiktas (17-5) won against visiting Galatasaray (12-10) 90-84. Besiktas made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Galatasaray helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Earl Clark (208-88, college: Louisville) fired 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The other American import point guard Michael Thompson (177-89, college: Northwestern) chipped in 21 points and 6 assists. Besiktas' coach Ufuk Sarica used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International Sinan Guler (192-83, college: Carroll, MT, agency: 1x1 Sports) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and Serbian forward Vladimir Micov (201-85, agency: BeoBasket) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Besiktas and four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Besiktas maintains third position with 17-5 record having just three points less than leader Fenerbahce. Galatasaray at the other side keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Besiktas are looking forward to face Demir IBB (#14) in Buyukcekmece in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Galatasaray will play at home against TED Kolejliler (#16) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
