Regular Season Round 17: Neftochimic - Beroe 88-72

Date: March 21, 2017
The game between third ranked Beroe (8-5) and fourth ranked Neftochimic (6-8) was the most important one in the last round on Tuesday night. Beroe was defeated by Neftochimic in Burgas 88-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Beroe. The game was mostly controlled by Neftochimic. Beroe managed to win fourth quarter 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Slovenian center Tina Trebec (190-90) stepped up and scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American-Puerto Rican guard Ashley Prim (170-91, college: St.Joseph's, agency: Gamble Sports Management) chipped in 26 points and 4 steals. Prim is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Neftochimic players scored in double figures. American center Cierra Robertson-Warren (193-91, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) responded with 32 points (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Maria Zhelyazkova (182-86, agency: Promotex) scored 14 points. Beroe's coach Tatyana Gateva rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Neftochimic maintains fourth place with 6-8 record. Beroe at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Neftochimic will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Beroe will play at home against the league's leader Haskovo 2012 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
