We should mention about the upset which took place in Istanbul, where higher ranked Elazig (20-13) lost to fourteenth ranked Istanbulgucu (13-20) in a road game 53-58 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Elazig. Point guard Ilayda Tokmak (170-93) stepped up and scored 16 points for the winners and American center Molly Schlemer (196-92, college: Cal Poly - SLO) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. The best for the losing side was American power forward Sharon Houston (191-88, college: IU Northwest, agency: Gamble Sports Management) with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 20 rebounds and 9 blocks and Bahar Kocaoglu (-91) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Istanbulgucu maintains fourteenth place with 13-20 record. Elazig at the other side keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Istanbulgucu will meet higher ranked Ferko Ilgaz (#12) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Elazig will play against Cankaya (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
