Regular Season Round 26: Frintrop - Salzkotten 75-82

Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Salzkotten (12-13) won against 12th ranked Frintrop (5-20) in Essen-Frintrop 82-75 on Saturday. Salzkotten dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Frintrop's 30. Swingman Felix Wenningkamp (195-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Matthias Finke (190-87) contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American power forward Dijon Smith (203-89, college: Ft.Hays State) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and forward Kevin Kern (195-90) added 18 points in the effort for Frintrop. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Frintrop's coach Sebastian Rathjen let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Salzkotten moved-up to eighth place in West, which they share with Hertener Loewen and Bonn II. Frintrop lost twelfth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 20 games lost. Salzkotten will face league's second-placed Hagen BG at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Frintrop will play against Bielefeld (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
