The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Westerstede's (6-12) road victory over 10th ranked Weser Bsk/BTS (5-14) in Neustadt 99-76 on Saturday. Westerstede made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 27 Weser Bsk/BTS turnovers and outrebounded them 43-22 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Power forward Marcel Kessen (207-97) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Naturalized Bosnian point guard Robert Drijencic (190-96) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Westerstede players scored in double figures. Swingman Andreas Bruns (197) replied with 19 points and 4 assists and forward Lukas Koehler (196) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Weser Bsk/BTS. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Westerstede moved-up to eighth place in North, which they share with Wusterhausen. Weser Bsk/BTS at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. Westerstede will face league's leader RW Cuxhaven at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Weser Bsk/BTS will play against the league's second-placed Stade (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
