Regular Season Round 21: Academico FC - CAB Madeira 48-73

There was no surprise in Porto where 10th ranked Academico FC (3-15) was crushed by fifth ranked CAB Madeira (12-6) 73-48 on Saturday. CAB Madeira made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Maria Blazejewski (185-91, college: L.Superior) stepped up and scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and international power forward Rosinha Rosario (182-89, college: Gulf Coast CC) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds. Four CAB Madeira players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Francisca Cesar (168) with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Isabel Costa (180-97) scored 5 points and 9 rebounds. Academico FC's coach Americo Santos gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. CAB Madeira moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Benfica. Academico FC lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with CD Torres N.. CAB Madeira will meet Lombos Quinta (#8) in the next round. Academico FC will play against Lousada and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
