Regular Season Round 19: Tavriyska Zirka - DVUFK 87-64

Bottom-ranked Tavriyska Zirka managed to get the second consecutive victory on Sunday night. This time they outleveled eighth-ranked DVUFK in Kherson 87-64. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 23-point difference proves that Tavriyska Zirka was well-prepared to that game. And what about a second win in a row after ...twenty consecutive losses. The game was mostly controlled by Tavriyska Zirka. DVUFK managed to win third quarter 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding DVUFK to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Tavriyska Zirka forced 25 DVUFK turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by DVUFK's players. Margarita Glebova fired a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Lolita Sysoyeva (172-95) chipped in 24 points and 5 steals. Four Tavriyska Zirka players scored in double figures. Viktoriya Fedorenko (176-0) produced 22 points (made all of her ten free throws !!!) and swingman Oksana Fastova (173-99) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Tavriyska Zirka (2-20) moved-up to eighth place. DVUFK lost twelfth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom. Tavriyska Zirka are looking forward to face higher ranked Dynamo-NPU (#4) in Kyiv in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. DVUFK will play at home against the league's second-placed Avangard (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
