Regular Season Round 28: Dzukija - Zalgiris 64-79

LKL top team - Zalgiris (25-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat eighth ranked Dzukija (7-21) in Alytus 79-64. It looked good early as Dzukija took a 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Zalgiris had a 32-10 second period charge getting the lead and Dzukija was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-79. Zalgiris forced 22 Dzukija turnovers. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international Paulius Jankunas (205-84) who helped to win the game recording 8 points and 9 rebounds and Canadian-Slovenian point guard Kevin Pangos (188-93, college: Gonzaga) who added 12 points during the contest. At the losing side center Karolis Guscikas (205-92, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds and Russian center Anatoly Kashirov (215-87) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 25-3 record. Dzukija lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 21 games lost. Zalgiris will play against P.Zvaigzdes (#7) in Pasvalys in the next round where they are favorite. Dzukija will play at home against Nevezis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
