Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Elazig (20-14) was outscored by fourth ranked Cankaya (25-8) in Ankara 82-54 on Wednesday. Cankaya forced 23 Elazig turnovers. Elazig was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for guard Ilknur Dumlu (176-89) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Azerbaijani center Marcedes-Marie Walker (191-86, college: Pittsburgh) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Cankaya players scored in double figures. American power forward Sharon Houston (191-88, college: IU Northwest, agency: Gamble Sports Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 19 rebounds and Esen Ozdemir (-89) added 8 points and 5 assists in the effort for Elazig. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cankaya maintains fourth position with 25-8 record, which they share with Bodrum. Loser Elazig keeps the eighth place with 14 games lost. Cankaya will face Istanbulgucu (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Elazig will play against Mersin Uni (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
