Regular Season Round 27: Schwelm - Muenster 82-89

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (21-5) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Muenster (20-6) 89-82. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of SG Schwelmer Baskets. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in West. Muenster made 28-of-35 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. 28 personal fouls committed by SG Schwelmer Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American guard Gerrell Martin (190-93, college: LIU Brooklyn) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points. Forward Jan Koenig (201-93) helped adding 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The best for the losing side was Lithuanian swingman Andrius Mikutis (194-88, college: John Brown) with 18 points and 9 rebounds and American swingman Harry Boyce (193-85, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Four SG Schwelmer Baskets players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Muenster have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in West. SG Schwelmer Baskets at the other side still keep top position with five games lost.
