Second Stage Round 8: KPZO DYUSH - Dnipro-2 71-89

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Dnepropetrovsk: Dnipro-2 (#9) and KPZO DYUSH (#14). KPZO DYUSH was smashed at home by 18 points 71-89 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Dnipro-2. KPZO DYUSH was better in third quarter 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dnipro-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to KPZO DYUSH's 20. They outrebounded KPZO DYUSH 41-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. Dnipro-2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Olexandr Tarasenko (199-96) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Yusuf Sanon (190-99) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. Dnipro-2's coach Oleksandr Muntian allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Point guard Oleksandr Fomenko (180-86) produced 21 points and 5 assists and point guard Sergey Bukin (180-87) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Dnipro-2 (13-2) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Newly promoted Dnipro-2 maintains ninth position. KPZO DYUSH at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. Dnipro-2 will have a break next round. KPZO DYUSH's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face again at home their local rival from Dnepropetrovsk Dnipro-2.
