Second Stage Round 5: Oliveirense - Vitoria SC 83-87

The most interesting game of round 5 in the LPB was a home defeat of 4th placed Oliveirense (19-8) to third ranked Vitoria SC (20-7) 87-83. Vitoria SC looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. International forward Joao Balseiro (192-87) stepped up and scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American guard Andrew Ferry (190-90, college: Cornell) chipped in 23 points and 6 assists. American power forward Justin Reynolds (206-88, college: Texas A&M-CC) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Arnette Hallman (200-88) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Oliveirense's coach Ricardo Rodrigues rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vitoria SC moved-up to second place in Places 1-6, which they share with Benfica. Oliveirense at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Vitoria SC is looking forward to face Illiabum (#6) in Ilhavo in the next round. Oliveirense will play on the road against the league's leader FC Porto Ferpinta and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
