Second Stage Round 8: Politekhn.Lvov - Krivbas-2 89-80

The biggest surprise took place in Lviv where host Politekhn.Lvov (12-8) beat league's leader Krivbas-2 (13-7) 89-80 on Saturday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 30-10. But Krivbas-2 won second period 37-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Politekhn.Lvov dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Krivbas-2's 36. They outrebounded Krivbas-2 42-29 including 18 on the offensive glass. Politekhn.Lvov looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Krivbas-2's players. The best player for the winners was forward Dmytro Khodov (203-87) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Denys Tiutiunyk (195-92) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Five Politekhn.Lvov players scored in double figures. Point guard Sergey Startsev (190-97) produced 21 points and power forward Artem Vodolaztcky (194-92) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Krivbas-2's coach Oleksandr Porokhenko rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Politekhn.Lvov have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 12-8 record. Krivbas-2 at the other side dropped to the second place with seven games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Dnipro-2. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
