There was no surprise when 13th ranked Mersin MBK (5-18) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Hatay (13-9) 78-69 on Saturday. Hatay looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Naturalized American swingman Bahar Ozturk (183-84, college: Connecticut, agency: 1x1 Sports) chipped in 20 points and 8 assists. Four Hatay players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Rebekkah Brunson (191-81, college: Georgetown, agency: LBM Management) who recorded 27 points and 9 rebounds and her fellow American import center Michelle Snow (196-80, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) added 16 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Hatay have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 13-9 record. Newly promoted Mersin MBK keeps the thirteenth place with 18 games lost. Hatay will face league's second-placed Fenerbahce in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mersin MBK will play on the road against Osmaniye (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
