Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Cankaya (26-8) beat on the road 14th ranked Istanbulgucu (14-21) 70-65 on Saturday. They outrebounded Istanbulgucu 55-33 including a 21-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American-Azerbaijani center Marcedes-Marie Walker (191-86, college: Pittsburgh) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Seda Tabakci (188-85) helped adding 7 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Ilayda Tokmak (170-93) responded with 18 points and Gizem Uca (170-94) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Istanbulgucu players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Cankaya. They maintain fourth place with 26-8 record, which they share with Bodrum. Loser Istanbulgucu keeps the fourteenth position with 21 games lost. Cankaya will face Mersin Uni (#6) on the road in the next round. Istanbulgucu will play against TED Ankara (#10) and hope to win that game.
