Regular Season Round 30: Kapfenberg - Wels 90-74

Date: April 1, 2017
Rather expected game when 6th ranked Raiffeisen Wels (13-14) lost on the road to third ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (17-11) 90-74. It looked good early as Raiffeisen Wels took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kapfenberg Bulls had a 33-12 second period charge getting the lead and Raiffeisen Wels were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-90. Kapfenberg Bulls shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. Naturalized Croatian power forward Milan Stegnjaic (204-81) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian point guard Bogic Vujosevic (190-92, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 20 points during the contest. Kapfenberg Bulls' coach Michael Schrittwieser used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international Davor Lamesic (205-83, agency: Interperformances) with 28 points and Czech center Ales Chan (215-80, college: Seton Hill) scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Kapfenberg Bulls have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-11 record having five points less than leader Oberwart. Raiffeisen Wels lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 14 games lost. Kapfenberg Bulls will play against Furstenfeld Panthers (#7) on the road in the next round. Raiffeisen Wels will play against Dukes and hope to get back on the winning track.
