Second Stage Round 8: Hoverla - Zolotoi Vek 80-49

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Hoverla as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Hoverla smashed one of their biggest challengers Zolotoi Vek in Frankivsk 80-49. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Hoverla led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Zolotoi Vek to an opponent 24.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Hoverla had a 35-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. Forward Sergiy Yurchenko (201-87) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Yevgen Koroviyakov (197-88) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Guard Vladyslav Ryzhov (190-94) replied with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Andriy Kulish (205-92) added 10 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Zolotoi Vek. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Zolotoi Vek at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. Zolotoi Vek will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Hoverla will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Zolotoi Vek at Kirovograd.
