Twelfth-ranked BG Goettingen (10-18) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Brose Baskets (24-3) on Sunday. The visitors from Bamberg managed to secure only one-point victory 71-70. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of Latvian point guard Janis Strelnieks (191-89) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 5 assists. International Daniel Theis (204-92, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Jesse Sanders (190-89, college: Liberty) replied with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and his fellow American import Darius Carter (201-92, college: Wichita St.) added 24 points in the effort for BG Goettingen. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains second position with 24-3 record having just one point less than leader Ratiopharm. BG Goettingen at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 18 games lost. Brose Baskets are looking forward to face BBC Bayreuth (#4) at home in the next round. BG Goettingen will have a break next round.
