A very interesting game took place in Angra. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 12th ranked Sampaense (4-22) to tenth ranked Lusitania (7-19) 88-87 on Sunday evening. American center Chris Matagrano (206-90, college: New Hampshire) saved the victory by scoring 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Anthony Holliday (191-92, college: Lamar) contributed with 22 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Lusitania players scored in double figures. American guard Devin Martin (193, college: Md-E Shore) answered with 29 points and 5 assists and power forward Helder Carvalho (205-84, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sampaense. Lusitania moved-up to ninth place in Places 7-12. Newly promoted Sampaense stay dead last with 22 lost games. Lusitania's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ovarense (#8) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sampaense will play against CAB Madeira (#7) in Funchal and hope to win that game.
