We should mention about the upset which took place in Istanbul, where higher ranked Istanbul Uni (12-11) lost at home to eleventh ranked Samsun (8-17) 86-101. Samsun shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. The winners were led by Montenegrin-American swingman Eshaya Murphy (181-85, college: USC) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and Swedish guard Frida Eldebrink (174-88, agency: ProDep Management) supported her with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. Even 32 points, 5 assists and 5 steals (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) by American point guard Tan White (170-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: ProDep Management) did not help to save the game for Istanbul Uni. The former international point guard Gizem Yavuz (170-88) added 14 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Samsun maintains eleventh position with 8-17 record. Istanbul Uni at the other side keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost. Samsun's next round opponent will be higher ranked Mersin BSB (#8) on the road and it may be quite challenging game.
