Seventeenth-ranked SC Rasta Vechta (2-25) gave a tough game to tenth ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (12-16) on Saturday. The visitors from Frankfurt managed to secure only two-point victory 65-63. However their fans expected much easier game. Deutsche Bank Skyliners made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Strangely SC Rasta Vechta outrebounded Deutsche Bank Skyliners 35-23 including 21 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard AJ English (192-92, college: Iona) who scored 13 points and 9 assists. Niklas Kiel (207-97, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 19 points. Four Deutsche Bank Skyliners players scored in double figures. American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: IPFW) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import forward Derrick Allen (201-80, college: Mississippi) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. SC Rasta Vechta's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Deutsche Bank Skyliners maintains tenth place with 12-16 record. SC Rasta Vechta lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the seventeenth position with 25 games lost.
