Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Besiktas (#5) and Istanbul Uni (#7). Besiktas (15-10) crushed visiting Istanbul Uni (12-12) by 17 points 76-59. Besiktas dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Istanbul Uni's 22. Croatian-American guard Shavonte Zellous (178-86, college: Pittsburgh) stepped up and scored 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and American center Kiah Stokes (190-93, college: Connecticut) chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds. Besiktas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American point guard Tan White (170-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: ProDep Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the former international point guard Gizem Yavuz (170-88) scored 11 points and 7 assists. Five Besiktas and four Istanbul Uni players scored in double figures. Besiktas maintains fifth place with 15-10 record. Istanbul Uni lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. Besiktas will play against Samsun (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Istanbul Uni will play against Abdullah Gul (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
