The game in Alytus was also quite interesting. Second ranked Lietuvos rytas (23-8) played at the court of 8th ranked Dzukija (8-23). Lietuvos rytas managed to secure a 5-point victory 78-73 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 41-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Lietuvos rytas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Jimmy Baron (191-86, college: Rhode Island) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 4 assists. International power forward Arturas Gudaitis (211-93) accounted for 19 points and 4 blocks for the winning side. Lietuvos rytas' coach Rimas Kurtinaitis used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Paulius Morkeliunas (202-85, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with 15 points and 5 rebounds and center Karolis Guscikas (205-92, agency: Octagon Europe) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Dzukija in the defeat. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Lietuvos rytas. They maintain second place with 23-8 record having five points less than leader Zalgiris. Loser Dzukija keeps the eighth position with 23 games lost. Lietuvos rytas will meet at home Juventus (#6) in the next round. Dzukija will play against Lietkabelis in Panevezys and hope to secure a win.
